Today, India have been locked down for next 21 days. And possibly, this is end of the IPL 2020 hopes also. The Corona outbreak has put the world on halt. Some countries have been forced to lockdown completely while some others are trying their best to stop a possible lockdown.

With the chances of IPL 2020 looking very grim, this could have a large impact on the Team India combination for the upcoming World T20 in Australia. In case of no IPL and a couple of slots in the Indian team are still up for grab, the possible contenders might miss out on the bus to Australia.

Players like Kuldeep Yadav, Samju Samson, MS Dhoni and Krunal Pandya might feel that with the cancellation of IPL they have been robbed off a good opportunity of pushing their case for the World Cup.

1. Sanju Samson:- The journey to Indian National Cricket team has not been a smooth one for the talented Wicket –Keeper batsman Sanju Samson. After almost a number of never ending debates Sanju Samson finally earned a recall from the national team after a long gap of four years during the Bangladesh T20Is in November. But it seemed like the gap of four years was not enough as he did not get a single game in the series and was surprisingly dropped for the series against West Indies.

However, an injury to Shikhar Dhawan led to another recall although he did not play any game against West Indies either. He has managed to retain his spot for the time being and IPL 2020 would have definitely helped him push his case, especially when Pant is still finding his feet in the team.

2. Kuldeep Yadav:- One of the spin bowling main stays of India in White-ball cricket Kuldeep Yadav is going through the worst phase of his international career. His stocks have also nosedived in recent months especially after the 2019 World Cup in England.

With Jadeja going strong in all departments and Chahal doing a wonderful job as prime spinner, Kuldeep has find it tough to get into the XI at times.

Though highly unlikely, Kuldeep might also miss the bus to Australia if Indian management opts for extra pacer or Washington Sundar to strengthen all-rounder options in the team.

3. MS Dhoni:- MS Dhoni has not represented India since the Semi-final in ICC World Cup 2019, taking indefinite break from the game and missing all the subsequent series since then. Former Indian captain has been planning to make a successful return to the competitive cricket by IPL 2020. But the COVID-19 outbreak has put all the sporting activities to complete halt for some days at least. Almost every single Cricket Tournament has either been postponed or cancelled in the wake of COVID-19. If IPL 2020 gets cancelled, the former Indian captain is in danger to miss the bus to Australia for sure.
