In the Indian Premier League, retaining a player means taking that player who has been extraordinary in the previous season. So it’s makes the players motive and confidence also high. In IPL, players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni is retained by their respective franchises as they are the legends for their team. Even many overseas players are also retained like Rashid Khan, Kieron Pollard who made positive impact on their franchise. But there are some players who didn’t done well being retained.
1] Sarfaraz Khan
In 2018, Royal Challengers Bangalore retained Sarfaraz Khan despite of being less tactical approached. Having just few games played on hand, Bangalore franchise came to retain him but in the season he couldn’t produce well runs.
2] Piyush Chawla
In 2018, Kolkata Knight Riders retained Piyush Chawla with amount of 4.20Cr. He has been pure player for Kolkata as in 2014, with the help of his came, franchise won the title. But his dull performance in 2018,2019 made him release from the team.
3] Pawan Negi
In the same year, Pawan Negi was also retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore on a amount of 1Cr despite of picking star players like KL Rahul and Chris Gayle. This move from Bangalore franchise cost them a lot and Pawan’s performance was also not up to the mark.
4] David Miller
The Killer-Miller who came into IPL in 2013 where he struck a brilliant 38ball ton. But with the time going on, his performance was also getting dull and franchise released him 2020 and he played for Rajasthan Royals where also he cant make a proper mark.
5] Stuart Binny
He made him debut in 2010 for Mumbai Indians but was moved to 2011 in Rajasthan Royals and with good performance, he was retained by Rajasthan franchise in 2018 but he couldn’t play the way as an all rounder he played for the team and eventually dropped from the team.
