The 2020 season of Indian Premier League has been in favour of Mumbai Indians till date. They won 9 matches out of 14 at league stage. After that, they defeated Delhi Capitals by 57 runs in the Qualifier 1 in order to qualify for the final scheduled to be played on 10th of November at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Although they can be called ‘the invincibles’ in terms of IPL as they have won the title 4 times in last seven seasons and are ready to win yet another one. Mumbai Indians need to release some players ahead of IPL 2021 Auction. Here is a look at five players they might release:
- Nathan Coulter Nile
In IPL auction 2020, Mumbai Indians bought NCN for a whopping amount of INR 8 Cr. He played 5 matches for MI in whole season and picked up just 3 wickets. MI has a quality pace bowling attack in the name of Boult and Bumrah, both picking up more than 20 wickets this season.

- Chris Lynn
Australian batsman Lynn is among a few players that didn’t get chance in IPL 2020 after having two wonderful seasons in IPL 2018 and 2019. He scored more than 800 runs in total in both the tournaments. This seems to be a drawback of having such a wonderful batting line-up that he didn’t get a chance.
- Aditya Tare
MI has two top quality wicket-keeper batsmen in the name of Quinton de Cock and Ishan Kishan. Both have been successful in proving their metal for the team. Mumbai also has another wicket-keeper batsman Aditya Tare, who hasn’t played a single game since IPL 2018.
- Jayant Yadav
Jayant has been with Mumbai Indians for last two seasons; however, he has made only three appearances in all these years owing to their frontline spinners Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar performing well. The former has a stunning economy rate of 7.59 in this year’s IPL and the later has picked up 15 wickets so far.
- Saurabh Tiwary
Mumbai has used Saurabh as replacement of injured players in this season. Although he has done well in limited opportunities he got so far, yet he is not the quickest on the field and proves to be a liability for the team at times.
Thus, Mumbai Indians might release these players ahead of IPL Auction 2021.
