India’s Premier Domestic T20 Tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy witnessed a funny moment in the finale of the tournament as a fan ran away with the ball in the first innings of the match when Karnataka Batsman Manish Pandey hit a monstrous hit of the bowling of Tamilnadu leg spinner M Ashwin.

The moment took place on the third ball of the ninth over as Karnataka Captain Manish Pandey was looking to maintain the tempo provided by the openers. At last, the ball has to be changed by the umpires.

FYI, the finale of the tournament is being played between Tamilnadu and Karnataka at LALABHAI CONTRACTOR STADIUM SURAT. Tamilnadu’s captain Dinesh Kartik elected to ball first after winning the toss.

The decision of bowling first was taken to eliminate the effect of the due which is supposed to take effect in the second innings. However, Karnataka openers had other ideas as both KL Rahul and Padikkal carted around the bowlers all over the park, before R Ashwin put some break on the scoring rate with twin strikes in 5th over, as two Indian Internationals( KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal) were sent back to pavilion on consecutive deliveries.

But this did not stop Karnataka’s star-studded batting line-up from posting a daunting total on the board. Manish Pandey played a captain’s knock with his 45 ball 60 (4 fours and 2 sixes) and important contributions from Devdutt Padikkal (32 of 23) and Rohan Kadam (35 of 28) helped Karnataka post 180-5 in their allotted overs. R Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers as he ended with the figures of 4-0-34-2.

Tamil Nadu has failed to chase down the target and Karnataka won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019/20 by just one run.
