Within two to three days earlier, ICC announced the players of the decade which was appreciated by every fans and cricketers and most important Indian players were dominant in taking this high apex spot. Talking about the ICC ODI and T20 captain of the decade, MS Dhoni was elected as the skipper of the team. He has been prominently carrying his legacy even after his retirement. With him many other Indian players has also joined the camp like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma in the T20 squad.
Everyone appreciated the squad selection but out of all Former Indians Cricket and analyst Aakash Chopra wasn’t happy with the call.
Neither has India won anything nor has MS Dhoni done that well in T20Is: Aakash Chopra
“I’m slightly intrigued because if you talk about T20Is in this decade, neither has India won anything nor has MS Dhoni done that well in T20Is. We are making aT20I team and it doesn’t have players like Jos Buttler etc,” said by Aakash Chopra.
When anyone speaks on MS Dhoni’s record he has been tremendous as he has scored 1176 runs in 73 T20Is with an average of 45.23. So the point came into Aakash Chopra is that the record wasn’t that much good if he compares MS Dhoni in the ODI format. It is also seen that in this Decade Men in Blue didn’t have any World T20 Cup after winning the inaugural cup in 2007.
“My major bone of contention is that it seems that they have not made the T20I team at all. They are making the team of the decade and it is not only about the Pakistani thing why none of their players are there but it just doesn’t make sense. A T20I team generally has 5-6 batsmen and then should have five bowlers at least. It is even better if there are 6-7 bowling options,” added by Aakash Chopra.
He even questioned on the absence of Pakistani player and the team selection that ICC had made.
