After the tremendous success of IPL 2020 in these tough situations made cricket to the up most level. IPL 2020 had made a successful impact in bringing the cricketing world to its spectators zone and all the credits goes to the BCCI to fulfilling the dreams of millions of viewers.

With the success of the Indian Premier League 2020, BCCI is planning to put new plans for the next season which is expected to be from mid of April 2021 and other good news is that BCCI is planning to launch one more team in the upcoming championship. Earlier it was assumed that BCCI is releasing its tender towards the addition of ninth team and it is considered that the tender would be released after the festival of Diwali gets over.

In fact, it was also considered that there could be addition of two new teams in the tournament, but BCCI has initiated to add only one team in 2021 and other one could be in 2022 season onwards and the resulting solution could be generated within the span of 72 hours. Some rumors are outgrowth that Adani group, RPG-Sanjiv Goenka Group and the Tatas had given some interest towards owning a franchise in the upcoming season. It is also believed that Ronnie Screwvala the media stalwart and Uday Kotak the banker had also shown bit of interest in owning the franchise.

“Regarding the addition of new IPL franchise it is considered that the tender could be released after Diwali and if there will be new team then there will huge chances for the conduction of a mega auction in 2021,” sources said TOI.

As towards the coming tournament in 2021 the remaining eight franchises and stakeholders put some issues.

The concerns regarding the addition of new team

  1. The central revenue pool can be go for a fluctuation till the 2023 edition as new team arrival can cause dilution in the existing revenue cycle.
  2. By the consideration of the beginning of IPL2021 between march or April then there wouldn’t be an adequate and customized slot for the conduction of mega auction.
  3. If there is an addition of one team in the league then it would eventually result in bringing up a long tournament resulting in matches up to 90 which could be major concern.
