Following the trend of announcing playing XIs by players, Alex Carey, Australian Wicket-Keeper batsman, who was picked up by Delhi Capitals in this year’s IPL auction, has announced his India-Australia combined T20I XI on his twitter handle.
In his XI Carey has picked six Australian and five Indian players. The Wicket-Keeper batsman posted his XI with ‘a visible difficulty’ in his caption- “You need a team of 22, I reckon! Surprisingly, Carey picked his Delhi Capitals teammate Shikhar Dhawan over limited overs great Rohit Sharma to partner with his countryman David Warner at the top. Before Dhawan moved to Delhi Capitals, SRH captain Warner and Dhawan was one of the best opening pairs of IPL.
Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, comes in at no.3 for his staggering average and consistency. He is the man with highest runs in the history of the tournament, with 5412 in 177 games at a strike-rate of 131.61. He will be followed by another great in the form of Steven Smith, the Rajasthan Royal’s captain.
The left-handed duo of Rishabh Pant and Alex Carey himself will shoulder the finishing responsibilities at No.5 and 6 respectively. The all-rounder’s slot is given to Ravindra Jadeja, a dynamic fielder, clever bowler and much improved batsman. Adam Zampa, the Australian spin bowler will accompany Ravindra Jadeja in bowling department.
Carey has picked a rich-triplet of IPL’s highest foreign buy ever Pat Cummins, speedster Mitchell Stark and Yorker King Jasprit Bumrah to form a deadly pace attack.
