Ricky Ponting, the head coach of the Delhi Capitals, thinks that all-rounders will be the hot-deals in the upcoming IPL auction. This time Auction list has a number of world-class all-rounders coming under the hammer on 19th December.
The likes of Glenn Maxwell, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell Marsh, Sam Curran, Chris Morris, Marcus Stoinis, Collin de Grandhomme along with Indian all-rounders like Yusuf Pathan, Deepak Hooda and other few hard-hitting all-rounders are in the list of short-listed players making the bidding process exciting.
Delhi Capitals, which possesses a strong batting core, also in dire need of some big hitting finishers to finish off the innings as they let go Chris Morris, Colin Munro and Colin Ingram along with trading Sherfane Rutherford to Mumbai Indians.
Delhi Capitals will also like to add some overseas pacers to their squad in the upcoming season as they are short on that count. Pat Cummins is likely to go for big money as he not only provides quality bowling but also is able to provide finishing touches.
Ricky Ponting said, “There’s going to be a lot of focus and attention on fast bowlers, overseas ones in particular. Going into the auction you have to be very specific about the kind of players you need. For instance, we’ve got three openers, so we don’t need to look for one. You need to identify the problem areas in your starting eleven, and essentially plug the gaps,”
