Bangladesh announced their 15 member squad for World Cup 2019 to be held in England and Wales. Mashrafe Mortaza will be leading the side as captain while Shakib Al Hasan has been announced as vice-captain.
Apart from Bangladesh, New Zealand, Australia and India have also announced their squads for the world cup 2019 starting from May 30. The Bangladesh selectors have also named pacer Abu Jayed in the squad. Jayed will make his ODI debut directly in world cup. Recently, he had impressed with his swing bowling during the Tests in New Zealand last month.
Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa at the Kennington Oval on June 2. Before that, they will play two practice matches against Pakistan and India on May 26 and 28, respectively. Before world cup they will play tri-nation-series from 5 May to 17 May in Dublin, Ireland. Other two teams which are going to participate are West Indies and Ireland. Bangladesh also announced squad for tri-nation series toady.
In 2015, Bangladesh reached in quarter-finals but lost to India. In last few years Bangladesh performance has improved very much. In 2018 Asia Cup, they reached in finals but lost to India. They came into limelight when they defeated India in world cup 2007. Bangladesh is one of the teams which have directly qualified for world cup 2019.
