The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is all set to host two T20I matches between Asia XI and World XI to remember Bangladesh’s founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman – the first president of the nation – on his birth centenary. BCB has been trying to make the occasion as grand as possible to mark this special occasion. Today they have announced Asia XI squad for Two match series against World XI next month.
The two matches of Asia XI vs World XI will be played on 21st and 22nd March at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. Six Indian players are all set to play in these two matches. The six Indian players are Indian captain Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav.
The Asia XI includes players From Bangladesh, Liton Das, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mustafizur Rahman will participate while Thisara Perera and Lasith Malinga would turn up from Sri Lanka and From Afghanistan and Nepal, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Sandeep Lamichanne have been included.
In another news, a PCB source also revealed that Pakistani players will not be a part of the fixtures due to PSL commitments. “The T20Is between World XI and Asia XI were scheduled from March 16-20, while the PSL 2020 is likely to end on March 22. Since dates of both the series couldn’t be changed, we offered our regrets to the BCB, both verbally and in writing, which they understood and accepted,” a PCB spokesperson had clarified.
“It is unfortunate that the facts were twisted to mislead Pakistan cricket fans and followers,” he had added.
