Along With South Africa men’s team, South Africa women’s team will also travel India for a series. During this series, South Africa women’s will play five T20Is and three ODIs against India women’s. So BCCI has announced Indian Women’s squad for South Africa series. Mithali Raj will lead the ODI side while Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the T20I team and Smriti Mandhana is the deputy of Harmanpreet Kaur in T20Is. Recently, Mithali Raj has announced retirement from T20 Internationals.
15-year-old Shafali Verma receives his maiden international call-up after a blistering performance in the Domestic tournament and also in the Women’s T20 Challenge 2019. She has scored 1923 runs at a strike rate of 171.70 in the Domestic tournaments 2018-19. She has also scored six centuries. Priya Punia added in the ODI squad. Taniya Bhatia is the Wicket-keeper batswomen.
“Shafali is going to be a superstar for India probably in a year or so. I think she’ll break into India team,” Danni Wyat said earlier.
India will use this T20I matches as the preparation of the T20 World cup 2020.
South Africa women’s tour of India will begin from September 24 with the T20 Series.
