As Cricket gears up to blossom again finally after 4 months, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is working day and night to ensure the 13th edition of Indian Premier League takes place in 2020.

Ever since the Indian Government has allowed outdoor activities in green zone areas, IPL 2020 is high on the agenda of BCCI. According to the latest reports, the BCCI has locked in the dates for the lucrative tournament and is all ready to organise the IPL from September 26- November 08 this year.

Event though, the International Council of Cricket is yet to take a final call on upcoming the T20 World Cup – scheduled October-November window, BCCI looks confident of staging IPL 2020.

Reports further disclose that the BCCI has already spoken to the franchises, broadcasters, and other stakeholders before finalising the aforementioned window and all the plans are now on the table. BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly had also written the letters to the member associations for the same, recently.

“We can’t keep our plans on hold. ICC has to decide on the T20 World Cup way forward and we have to decide on our plans. That is the reason tentative window has been zeroed down and we will start preparing as per this window for IPL”, an unnamed BCCI member was quoted as saying by InsideSport.

However, the BCCI has not yet finalised the venue. Recently, IPL GC chairman Brijesh Patel gave a hint that BCCI is open to the idea of hosting IPL abroad in order to staging the tournament in bio-secure environment.

“We have to watch how things are going to play out over the next one month from a Covid perspective. We don’t mind shifting the IPL to another country, either in part or in full,” Patel had said.
Also, to give boost to the chanced of IPL 2020, earlier today, Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings had accepted that it’s very unlikely that the World T20 this year goes as per schedule, almost giving a green signal to IPL 2020.
