England world cup hero and all-rounder Ben Stokes picks his best dream XI cricket team on an occasion of Red Bull cricket function. He has selected Virender Sehwag as the opener in his team while Indian player Sachin Tendulkar is the other Indian player in his team.
The energy drink Red Bull’s brand ambassador Ben Stokes said: “I’d have Sehwag as one of my openers. I reckon he averaged about 50 in his career (49.34), and his strike rate was probably in the 80s (82.23). To have that as an opening batsman in Test match cricket if you were an opening bowler would be pretty scary, I reckon.”
On the selection of batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, Stokes said: “It’s got to be Sachin, got to be. I don’t think I need to explain why. Ricky and Sachin could swap between four and five, and they can have a fight to see who goes in — whichever one’s got their pads on.”
Shane Warner is the spin bowling option in his team. “Shane Warne’s my spinner, and he can come down and make a few runs when I need him to as well. Seven-hundred wickets, a few decent runs down the order and a great slip fielder, so he can slot in at number eight,” said Ben Stokes.
Ben Stokes picks former Australian player Adam Gilchrist as a wicket-keeper batsman in his Dream XI Cricket team. Dale Steyn, Curtly Ambrose, Jimmy Anderson are the fast bowling option in his team.
Here is the dream XI Cricket team of Ben Stokes:
Virender Sehwag (India), Alastair Cook – captain (England), Hashim Amla (South Africa), Ricky Ponting (Australia), Sachin Tendulkar (India), Sir Garfield Sobers (West Indies), Adam Gilchrist – wicketkeeper (Australia), Shane Warne (Australia), Dale Steyn (South Africa), Curtly Ambrose (West Indies), Jimmy Anderson (England).
