CPL 2019 will start from September 4, and the final will happen on October 12. CPL 2018 won by Trinbago Knight Riders in the captaincy of Dwayne Bravo. Now for the 7th edition of CPL, the draft will take on May 22. CPL is one of the most popular leagues in cricket after IPL.
Some are the big stars who are the part of this players draft are Jofra Archer, Rashid Khan and Alex Hales and the West Indian players are Andre Russell, Shirmon Hetmyer and Shai Hope. A total of 536 players are available for the pick. Six teams have participated in the Caribbean primmer league. For the first time, one Indian player is also part of this players draft list. Earlier Chris Gayle returned his home team Jamaica Tallawahs. He is the marquee player of Jamaica Tallawahs.
Michael Hall, CPL Tournament Operations Director, was said on CPL’s official website.
“The fact that so many players have registered for our draft is a testament to the stature of our league. Playing cricket in the Caribbean is something that all players look forward to, and the CPL combines that allure with a high standard of cricket. We expect that this year’s tournament will be no different.”
All retentions will be announced during the live broadcast of the player draft which will be broadcast on the Hero CPL social media channels from 2 PM GMT on May 22.
The players they can potentially retain are as follows:
Minimum of three (3) West Indian players, a maximum of four (4)
Maximum of one (1) overseas player, reduced to none if four (4) West Indians retained
A Marquee Player whether retained or acquired
An ICC Americas Player, whether retained or acquired
