This hasn’t been a season for Chennai Super Kings this year. Their troubles started even before the inaugural match of season, when two of their seasoned campaigners Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina pulled out of tournament.

With the progress of tournament, mthe things have only gone bad to worse for the Chennai based franchise as their ever-aging team is failing to fire in unison. In the big grounds and sapping heat of UAE, the aging legs ‘Run Out of Juice’ and not investing in youth has cost them dearly this season.

Now after 11 matches into the season, they are on the verge of exiting the tournament in the league stage for the first time in the history of the competition. On Friday, they suffered yet another moral deflating loss at the hands of Mumbai Indians to concede their 8th defeat of the season.

After Mumbai Indians elected to ball first on a seaming wicket, the CSK batsmen found themselves at sea against Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah. The fast bowling duo put an exhibition of seam and swing bowling to bring CSK down to 21-5 inside 6 overs. Eventually, the CSK batsmen managed to struggle their way to 114- 8 in 20 overs, courtesy a fighting 52 runs from Sam Curran. Trent Boult finished with 4 for just 18 off his four overs. In chase, MI openers Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock polished off the chase in 13 overs to register to hand CSK a mauling.

Though CSK lost the match against MI, they managed to find a little humour when CSK crossed 49 runs mark in first innings. Taking a dig at Virat Kohli-led RCB, the CSK handle twitted “At least, the 49 fiasco was averted” as fans reacted heavily to the tweet.


Today, RCB is going to play against CSK in their next match of IPL 2020
