Now-a-days It has become a trend among cricket experts to announce their favourite XIs for the different formats of the game. Especially, at a time when the world has confined itself amid the fears of COVID-19, the players and fans are keeping themselves busy by interacting on social media and surfing their interests.
Former players and stalwarts of game are also having a good time by conducting question answer sessions on twitter and announcing their favourite playing XIs. Recently, Dale Steyn, the great South-African speedster, announced all-time XI of his contemporary players.
The legendary bowler, in a career spanning almost 16 years, played the game with possibly the best generation of the players. Steyn has chosen a number of stalwarts with whom he played and enjoyed his trait.
Dale Steyn has picked his teammate and former captain Graeme Smith along with Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara to open the innings in his XI, both astute and pleasing to eye.
Surprisingly, Steyn has placed his countryman Dave Hawken at No. 3 in the XI. He will be followed by two great all-rounders in Jacques Kallis and Jonty Rhodes at No.4 and No. 5 respectively. They were the pillars of South-African middle order in their time. Bret Bargiachi and Peter Lombard are placed at No.6 and No.7 respectively.
As far as the bowling department is concerned, Steyn has picked three fiery speedsters in the form of Australian great Brett Lee, South African legends Paul Harris and Allan Donald to round up the XI.
Surprisingly, no Indian player along with many international players like Ricky Ponting, AB de Villiers could not make the cut in Dale Steyn’s XI.
Here is Dale Steyn’s contemporary XI:
Kumar Sangakkara, Graeme Smith, Dave Hawken, Jacques Kallis, Jonty Rhodes, Quinton de Kock, Bret Bargiachi, Peter Lombard, Brett Lee, Paul Harris, Allan Donald.
