In a thrilling last-ball match, DC defeated RCB today. With this win, DC has qualified in playoffs while RCB is out of the race to reach in playoffs. In other words, it can be said that RCB is out of IPL 2019 and they will play their remaining matches just to complete formalities.
DC won the toss and elected to bat. Prithvi Shaw was unlucky as he got out scoring just 18 runs. But after that Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer, both scored a half-century. Both scored their half-centuries in just 37 balls. They added a partnership 103 runs. After that Shefrane Rutherford played a good cameo of 28 runs in 13 balls in the end.
Coming to batting, RCB opened with Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel. They both played a good knock but could not convert them into full-fledged innings. Parthiv Patel got out scoring just 39 runs when RCB score was 63.
Soon Virat Kohli also followed him scoring just 23 runs adding only 5 runs in team score after Parthiv Patel got out. Shivam Dube, Gurkeerat Singh, and Marcus Stonins played good cameo innings but all went in vain as RCB was able to score just 171 runs in 20 overs. DC won the match by 16 runs. Shikhar Dhawan was awarded the man of the match because of his fabulous innings and a brilliant catch of Shivam Dube.
DC is now in the top of the points table with 8 wins in 12 matches and 16 points. Now RCB has to play its remaining matches just for formality as they are out of IPL 2019. However, as they have no pressure now they will play their remaining matches without any fear.
This is a huge loss for RCB and its fans. Social media are trolling RCB for their poor performance:-
