Deep dasgupta, former Indian Wicketkeeper and Commentator, has picked his best IPL XI in a recent Instagram Live session with CricTracker.com. Following the trend of announcing playing XI’s the, Dasgupta picked a number of T20 stalwarts in the XI.
In Dasgupta’s IPL XI, the left-handed duo of fiery Australian opener David Warner and the Universe Boss Chris Gayle will open the innings. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s opener and captain, David Warner is one of the most consistent performers in the history of the tournament. The pocket-rocket from Australia is three-time winner of Orange Cap. On the other hand, his partner Chris Gayle has scored highest number of centuries (6) in the history of the tournament.
At number three, Deep Dasgupta has gone with the most capped player and Mr. IPL, Suresh Raina. Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, comes in at no.4 for his staggering average and consistency. He is the man with highest runs in the history of the tournament, with 5412 in 177 games at a strike-rate of 131.61.
Rohit Sharma, one of the highest run getters in the history of the tournament and most successful captain of the league comes in at number 5. MS Dhoni, the poster boy of the IPL and master finisher, takes the wicket-keeping gloves at Number 6. He has 4432 runs to his name at an average of 42.2.
Dhoni will be followed by his two CSK teammates in the form of Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja at No.7 and 8 respectively.
The Spin bowling slot is taken by RCB’s leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Amit Mishra was one of the contenders for a slot but he missed out because of Chahal track record on small grounds. “I keep Chahal ahead of Mishra, because of the ground he plays on,” he said
Mumbai Indians Duo of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah will make the pace attack. Lasith Malinga has 177 scalps to his name while Bumrah has picked up 82 wickets in 77 games. Dasgupta also picked Sunil Narine as 12th man in the team.
