Delhi Capitals have made a mixed start in this season of IPL. They started this season with a bang by beating three-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians. In their follow-up games, they beat Kolkata Knight Riders & Royal Challengers and remain in contention to make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2012. DC has played 7 matches, and won 4 matches out of them. With 8 points they are at 4th position in points table.
In last match Shikhar Dhawan scored unbeaten 97 runs and felt short 3 runs from century. But one of the concerns of DC is Rishabh Pant and Collin Ingram are not performing well.
Some days before Harshal Patel got injured. Harshal Patel featured in two out of the 6 games for the Delhi-Capitals this season, picking up two wickets for 40 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders, in which Delhi Capitals won in the super over.
Now, DC has announced his replacement as Jagadeesha Suchith. He is left arm orthodox spinner. He started his carrier in IPL in 2015 playing for MI. He played his second season IPL 2016 again with MI. Now he will play in IPL after 3 years. He has played 14 matches so far and took 10 wickets. DC will play their next match against SRH on their home ground.
Delhi Capitals were holding trials of players in Kolkata to replace injured players. Many players participated in trials. Finally DC has selected Jagadeesha Suchith. Earlier there were reports of Manoj Tiwary replacing injured Harshul Patel. This news gained speculation after Sourav Ganguly issued a statement that Manoj Tiwary has attended trials and may be selected. He said “Manoj will travel with the team to our next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 14. He will continue training and then we will take a final call.”
