It happened in the 168th over of the innings, when Jaydev Unadkat, Saurashtra captain, summoned Pujara into the attack. Pujara was called into the attack after a gruelling day of bowling from Saurashtra bowlers. Pujara who had hardly bowled in internationals surprised everyone as he picked up wicket only on the second delivery of his spell. He had Mohit Jangra edging the ball to first slip, where Prerak Mankad made no mistakes.
Pujara was so elated after picking up the wicket that he went on a celebrating run sprinting across the ground. He also posted the video on his Instagram with a caption in which he termed himself as an All- rounder. He wrote, “The day when I changed my Batsman status to an All-rounder”.
Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan reacted to the post in jolly mood as the left handed opener taunted Pujara by making fun of his slow running between the wickets. Dhawan reacted as, “Bhai(Pujara) kabhie itne tez sprint running karte waqt bhimaar liya kar [Brother, sometimes sprint like this while running between the wickets],”
R Ashwin, Indian off-spinner, also reacted to the post and challenged the Indian test no. 3 to bowl more while appreciating his bowling.
Although Pujara picked up a wicket but Uttar Pradesh posted a huge total on the board in their first innings as Saurashtra lost the match by an innings and 72 runs. Saurashtra fold out for mere 120 runs in the second innings.
