Suresh Raina, out of favour Indian Batsman, is one of the closest friends of MS Dhoni. The duo has been together ever since Raina has debuted for team India. In IPL also both have been backbone of Chennai Super Kings ever since its inception.
MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina have shared a great rapport during their illustrious international careers. The duo also played crucial roles in 2011’s historical World Cup win. But now, at the fag ends of their careers, while Suresh Raina has been out of team India for almost two years now, the speculations about MS Dhoni’s future has been taking an eternity to die down.
Former Indian Captain has been the hot topic of debate ever since the 2019 World Cup. The champion player has not played any kind of Cricket since the loss against New Zealand in the semi-final of the Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2019. After the loss, Indian stalwart MS Dhoni took indefinite sabbatical from the game. Even a possible return to competitive Cricket through IPL 2020 has been postponed indefinitely due to CoViD-19 crisis.
Recently, in an interview with Aakash Chopra, Raina made a straight forward statement regarding the future of MS in Indian Jersey. Raina has asked for the patience from the Cricket World and urged that the decision of retirement must be left to him.
“It is his personal decision. We can’t ask him. It’s his personal decision. He has played for so many years. He was batting well.. he was playing new shots…he has something in his mind.” the left-handed batsman said as quoted by Times Now.
While it would be difficult to say what MS Dhoni has planned about his future but as he will be turning 39 in July this year, his chances of international comeback look quite bleak.
