24th December 2019 will mark the 15th anniversary of Mahendra Singh Dhoni as an Indian International. This was the day 15 years back when the legendary captain made his debut against Bangladesh under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly.

MS Dhoni, who has every ICC trophy in his cabinet, shared a video on this very occasion, remembering his talk to himself before the debut game. Dhoni said, “I slept very well, I still remember that day. I was not under a lot of pressure, just wanted to be myself. What I told myself was that I have done really well in all the matches that I have played so far for my state team and India A team that I represented. I have to be myself whatever the situation may be. I have to go in and be expressive on the field,” Dhoni said in a video shared by Chennai Super Kings.
Dhoni, who was later known as Captain-Cool, revealed that he was not under a lot of pressure and he derived the confidence from the recent success in India A games.

However, Dhoni’s debut game did not turn out to be a great but as he was run-out for a first-ball duck. India also did not have a great series as they lost their first ever bi-lateral series against Bangladesh.
But it was like a calm before the thunder, Sourav Ganguly, well known for supporting youngsters throughout his career, persisted with Dhoni for the upcoming home series against Pakistan. This time Dhoni grabbed his opportunity with both hands as he played a dazzling innings of 148 runs at Vizag. All after that is a history to cherish for Indian Cricket and its lovers.
