Brian Lara, run machine from Trinidad & Tobego, is one of the greatest batsmen of our generation. Anyone will doubt that he has an astute mind with a calm head on his shoulders and possess a deep knowledge of the game.
The great West Indian was known for his marathon innings during his cricketing career. He has as many as nine 200+ scores in international test cricket. In those nine scores he has 2 triple hundreds(333 and 375) along with a 400*(highest score in test cricket till date). He was the leading run getter in international test cricket till his retirement only to be overtaken later by the Master-Blaster.
Brain Lara is often asked a question whenever the legend makes a public appearance that is, “Who do you think is capable of break you long standing record of highest International test score by an individual?”
In an interesting reply Lara said, “It would be difficult for Steve Smith to do it batting at No.4 for Australia. He is a great player, but he doesn’t dominate. You know a player like David Warner for sure. A player like Virat Kohli, who gets in early and gets set. He is a very attacking player. Rohit Sharma on his day. So they have got quite a group of players who can do so,” to India Today.
According to the West Indian great, Indian duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli along with David Warner are the most probable contenders to break the record. Earlier, a month ago the West Indian also named Prithvi Shaw to challenge his long standing record in future.
Brain Lara is the 7th highest run getter in test cricket at present, who represented West Indies in 131 test matches amassing 11953 runs. Brian Lara played an unbeaten 400-run innings against England in Antiga in 2004.
