Eoin Morgan, England’s limited over captain, was not an accomplished player when he last played for KKR in the IPL. In his IPL career so far, he has represented three Franchises other than KKR. In 2010, the dashing left-hander played for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He also played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2015 and 2016 before being picked up by Kings XI Punjab for the 2017 season. Following which Eoin Morgan also went unsold for two back-to-back seasons of Indian Premier League in 2018 and 2019.
And now in IPL 2020, Eoin Morgan is back in action after being picked up by his old Franchise Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping amount of INR 5.25 crore. Morgan has played in the seven seasons (barring IPL 2014) of Indian Premier League so far. In these seven seasons, he has scored just 854 runs in 52 matches at a below par average of 21.35. On the contrary, in T20Is, he has scored 2138 runs in 86 innings of 89 matches at an average of almost 31 with a strike rate of over 137 for his team England.
But ever since guiding England to their maiden 50 over World Cup win in 2019, he was a hot property for this year’s IPL. He also showed the glimpses of what a devastating batsman he can be, when he helped England chase down a total of 223 in a T20I against South Africa at Centurion. Eoin Morgan played an innings of 57 not out of just 22 balls hitting as many as 7 sixes in the knock. For his blistering performances, he was adjudged both player of the match and player of the series.
After this performance, Commentator-cum-Analyst Harsha Bhogle has termed his as impact player of KKR in the upcoming IPL. The tweet reads as, “I know he has never been quite the player in the IPL that he has been for England but I will be surprised if @Eoin16doesn’t create an impact with @KKRiders this year.“

It is highly likely that Morgan will slot in at his usual No.4 position in KKR line-up also. And Morgan will be playing an important role for his IPL franchise KKR in 2020 edition of the IPL.
