Gautam Gambhir’s Test XI & the Captaincy dilemma

Now-a-days It has become a trend among cricket experts to announce their favourite XIs for the different formats of the game. Recently, Former Indian Player Gautam Gambhir announced his all-time Indian Test XI. Gautam Gambhir has picked six specialist batsmen, one all-rounder, two spinners along with two fast bowlers in his XI.

Gambhir, who is himself one of the highly regarded Indian batsmen, has picked a number of GOAT players like Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Sunil Gavaskar among others.
To start with the XI, Gambhir has picked his former opening partner Virender Sehwag and Little Master Sunil Gavaskar as openers. The duo between them scored more than 18,000 Test runs with contrasting batting styles. While Sehwag’s attacking demeanour filled the bowlers with terror, it was Sunil Gavaskar’s composed attitude that brought bowlers to submission.

At No.3, who is better than Rahul Dravid ‘the Wall’, and he will be followed by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and modern legend Virat Kohli to complete top 5. The trio has been the face of Indian middle-order batting in last two and half decades.

India’s greatest ever fast bowling all-rounder Kapil Dev will slot in at No. 6, followed by former Indian Captain MS Dhoni, who will don the gloves at No.7. Gautam Gambhir has picked two legendary spinners in Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble along with swing king Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath to round off the XI.

Surprisingly, Gambhir has given the reigns to Anil Kumble in spite of having the likes of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, two of the most successful Indian test captains, in the team.
