“The bowlers didn’t bowl in the right line and length. This is a good learning phase for our young bowlers. We know we are playing against a tough team, but this is an opportunity for the inexperienced players to get used to the conditions before the World Cup. We want to compete well in the next matches. They (batsmen) are playing on drop-in pitches for the first time and didn’t know how the pitch will behave. This is not an excuse. We have to adjust in the next few games,” Sri Lankan captain Lasith Malinga said in the post-match presentation.
“It’s a nice feeling to get off to a win. It has been off for the last few days, so glad to get out there and win. You are always trying to improve your game. It’s mainly the death bowling, the slower ones and yorkers; we are always trying to practice. You need to try and learn those things. It’s his (Warner’s) birthday, the birthday boy – he has been hitting the ball beautifully in the last couple of weeks. He is in great form ahead of the summer,” Pat Cummins said in the post-match presentation.
