Amid all the uncertainties around MS Dhoni’s future in Blue Jersey, former Indian opener and Commentator, Aakash Chopra has given his opinion about MS Dhoni’s international comeback.
According to Aakash Chopra, if anyone thinks that MS Dhoni’s international comeback was dependent on his IPL performance than he is in great misconception. Because a player, with a stature of as big as Dhoni, can’t be judged on the basis of a tournament.

“It’s a huge misconception that Dhoni’s comeback to the Indian team was dependent on his performance in the IPL,” Aakash Chopra said as quoted by Hindustan Times. “If that is how we will view Dhoni as a player and his career and what he has achieved as a player, then I think we are just knocking at the wrong door because it’s not right.”

MS Dhoni has been planning to make an international comeback through a stellar IPL 2020. But now with the countrywide lockdown extending till 3 May, the chances of IPL 2020 looks very slim.

Chopra also added that if IPL and World T20 does not take place this year, this might be the end of Dhoni’s future in Blue Jersey also. “See, if the team wants him to play, all that will happen. But if the IPL doesn’t take place this year, the T20 World Cup doesn’t happen this year, (then), of course, he will be a year older; and with him out of the cricket for more than 18 months, you can assume that you might not see him play again for India”, the former Indian opener said.

Former Indian Captain has been the hot topic of debate ever since the 2019 World Cup. The champion player has not played any kind of Cricket since the loss against New Zealand in the semi-final of the Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2019. After the loss, Indian stalwart MS Dhoni took indefinite sabbatical from the game.

While it would be difficult to say what MS Dhoni has planned about his future but as he will be turning 39 in July this year, his chances of international comeback look quite bleak.
