In 2020, till now all the major sports tournaments and series have been either cancelled or postponed amidst the fear of CoVID -19, which is now declared a pandemic by World Health Organisation (WHO).

Now all the sports fans are looking forward to ICC T20 Men’s World Cup 2020, which is scheduled to begin in October this year. The pre-qualifying tournament will be played from October 18-23 in Australia whereas the main tournament will kick start with a match between Australia and Pakistan at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney followed by match between India and South Africa at Western Australian Cricket Association, Perth on 24th October.

As per reports in domain, if conditions worsen due to Corona virus, tournament might be postponed by International Cricket Council (ICC) to a later date. But on Tuesday, Cricket Australia and ICC assured that tournament would take place as planned and there would be no change.

In an interview to TOI, Virender Sehwag was asked to pick his favourite team for the T20 World Cup. Veteran cricketer said in T20 cricket it is very difficult to pick a favourite as a single player can change whole the game. But he said India will fancy their chances as Hardik Pandya, the fast medium bowling all-rounder, is back in the team.

Speaking to TOI, Virender Sehwag said, “In T20s, one cannot predict favourites. Such is the unpredictable nature of the format; any single player can change the complexion of the game on a given day. The return of Hardik Pandya will make a huge difference to the Indian team. The whole combination will change with an all-rounder of the calibre of Hardik.”

Pandya last played in September, 2019 in a T20I series against South Africa. After that he was out of team for treatment of a back injury and now he is fully recovered. Hardik has shown his form in 16th DY Patil T20 Cup earlier this month.
