The IPL is coming and this time it’s coming with a lot of upgrades. The upgraded version of this IPL is going to increase the decibels for at least one notch this time. On Monday, BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly, after the meeting, confirmed a lot of changes in the upcoming IPL that is all set to kick start on March 29 in Mumbai. Along with the changes, the meeting also decided the dates, venues and timings of the matches in the IPL.

Here is the list of all the upgrades we are going to witness in this year’s IPL.

1. All-Star game:

For the first time, BCCI is all set to organise an IPL All-Star match ahead of the IPL this year. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, on Monday confirmed that three days prior to the Marquee tournament an All –Star Match will be organised for the charity purpose.

2. Third Umpire will call the front foot No-ball

The IPL GC has also adopted the new ICC rule of front foot No-balls to be decided by the off-field match official. Last year, there Royal Challengers Bangalore fell victim of the unnoticed front foot No-ball from the Mumbai Indians’ pace bowler Lasith Malinga.

3. Concussion substitutes to be introduced:

In another upgrade, IPL GC has adopted one more latest ICC rule of like for like replacements in the case of Concussion. The match referee will have the power to decide the concussion substitutes.

4. Four teams for women’s T20 exhibition matches:

To more popularize the brand of Indian Premier League, BCCI is all set to organise 4-teams women’s T20 exhibition matches. Last year there were three teams, while in 2018 only two teams – Supernovas and Trailblazers – played a one-off game. Last year we saw a new team in the form of Velocity as BCCI organised a total of four exhibition games in 2019.

5. Mid-season transfer window:

This news is yet not confirmed but it is most likely that IPL GC is likely to provide a mid-season transfer or loan option to the franchises this year. Loaning of capped players, whether Indian or overseas, might be allowed this season.

This year Indian Premier League tournament will be unique of its kind and expected to allure large number of audience as always.
