Kamaal Lajabab(KL) Rahul, with his staller performances, is posing new questions in front of Indian Team management daily. The talented batsman from Bengaluru is finally coming good and making count every opportunity, he gets in the Blue jersey.

KL Rahul has been the eternally waiting back up opener in the shorter formats of the game. With Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan coming good together, he rarely got chances in the star studded Indian batting line up. But since the last year’s ODI World Cup in England, where he was touted as India’s no.4 but went onto play as an opener after the injury to Shikhar Dhawan, KL has been getting regular chances and the Karnataka batsman has done so well that even after the return of Dhawan he played all three matches in the Australia series.

Though KL Rahul batted at three different positions but he came good with the bat in all three matches and also did wicket keeping in place of the injured Rishabh Pant. He scored 146 in the three outing at No. 3, No. 4 and opener. KL also took 4 catches behind the stumps along with a stunning stumping of Australian captain Aaron Finch in the second match.

Indian Captain also praised the Karnataka lad after the series win. Kohli was also impressed with his wicket keeping skills and said that Indian team management might give him long run as wicket keeper in limited overs cricket.

Kohli said, “Well look we have what we have in the team. As I said, Rahul brings in balance into the side. We have to persist with it as he has done well. We have to see whether it works, you cannot chop and change. I do not see why we should change this playing XI.”

From the Kohli’s statement it looks like Indian management might continue with KL Rahul, the Wicket Keeper, for the time being and that will also allow them to play one extra batsman in the playing XI.
