India team won a humdinger at Seddon Park Hamilton to clinch the 5 match T20I series with two matches still left. It was one hell of a match as both the teams fought tooth and nails to win the match. Until the last over of the match that was bowled by Mohammad Shami, Team India was nowhere close to winning or even taking the match to the Super over.

But a Superb 20th over from Shami made sure that India do not lose the match if not win in that over. Defending just nine runs in the over, and Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor at crease, one has a little chance of defending nine runs. And to make the situation more-tense Shami conceded a Six off the first ball of the over. But next four balls saw one wicket and just 2 runs coming off them. Shami, the new Yorker specialist, bowled an off stump Yorker on the last ball to force a tie.

In the super over also, New Zealand gave India a target of 18 run to win the match. And on the back of special performance from Hit-man, Indian won the match with a last ball six from Hit-man Rohit Sharma.

In the press conference after the match, India captain Virat Kohli admitted that he had thought of losing the match after a gem of the innings from New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson.

“I thought we were gone at one stage. I told our coach [Ravi Shastri] that they probably deserved to finish the game off with the way Kane [Williamson] batted and the way he led from the front.

“[Mohammed] Shami again, showed his experience and put a couple of balls outside the off-stump. On the last ball, we had a discussion and we came to a conclusion that we had to hit the stumps because otherwise there is a single anyway and we are gonna lose the game. Shami went for it, got the wicket and the game turned on its head,” said Kohli praising Shami for his standout performance.

After gaining an unassailable lead of 3-0, Kohli also hinted at a couple of changes in the upcoming matches.

“In the super over, New Zealand again put pressure on us. But Rohit [Sharma] was outstanding today, in the first half and in the super over. We knew, if he gets one hit, the bowler will be under pressure because he is such a clean striker of the cricket ball. We will try to win [the series] 5-0. There are a couple of guys who are sitting out like Washington Sundar and [Navdeep] Saini, they deserve to get a game. The idea is to win the remaining two games,” Kohli concluded.
