In a major blow to Kings XI Punjab, Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell has sustained an elbow injury in the later stage of the BBL. As per the latest scans, Maxwell has some loose bone fragments in his elbow joint and it will need a surgical procedure to fix the issues.

Maxwell’s injury is a typical case of injury where a batsman gradually develops the injury unknowingly. Reports also revealed that Maxwell might take six to eight weeks to recover and it means that he is going to miss at least first few weeks of the IPL.

With Indian Premier League is all set to get underway on March 29. Kings XI Punjab and Maxwell both will be very disappointed with the timing of injury. In this year’s IPL auction, Kings XI Punjab brought him for INR 10.5 crore.

Maxwell was also making an International comeback almost after 6 months. The all-rounder was named in ODI and T20I squads for the tour of South Africa first time after he took a break to address his mental health issues. Earlier, Maxwell was not considered for the tour of India as well.

Disappointed with the injury of Maxwell, Trevor Hohns, the national selector, said, “We are disappointed to lose Glenn this close to the tour as we were looking forward to welcoming him back to the national side in both the 20- and 50-over formats after his break during the summer.” Now, D’Arcy Short has been named in his place for the South Africa tour.

Maxwell was also very sad after missing out on the international series, He quipped, “I was not confident that I could perform at international level with my elbow in its current state and have decided to undergo surgery straight away to fix the issue.”

Both Maxwell and Kings XI Punjab would be hoping that the all-rounder recovers soon from the injury. He has an important cog in the Kings XI setup from a long time now.
