After a grand #Dream11 IPL 2020 that concluded yesterday with the finale between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) is planning to make the next edition grander and more special.
After earlier reports suggested cancellation of scheduled mega auction for upcoming edition, the New Indian Express has reported that BCCI is all geared up for mega auction and has already informed the franchises to start preparing for the mega auction.
“The BCCI has told us to be prepared for an auction in a couple of months. Though it is not official, that they have asked us to be ready means they will go ahead as planned. Moreover, with a new team coming in, it makes sense to have an auction now rather than deferring it by a year,” a franchise official told TNIE.

In recent times, there has been talks of adding more teams in Indian Premier League. If all goes as planned this year might see addition of a new team. The report added that the team will be Ahmedabad based with new Sardar Patel Stadium as its home ground.
With four months left for the next auction, this mega auction will be a grand one from franchises point of view. Last time franchises were allowed to retain three key players and two Right To Match (RTM) options going into mega auction.
“The retention policy should continue even if a new team comes in because at this stage, it won’t be wise to have all players in the auction pool. Teams will have to compromise on brand value which is built on their star players,” said another franchise official.
