Ness Wadia, the co-owner of Kings XI Punjab stated that in the upcoming edition they definitely want to fill the gaps that went for huge loss. They are focusing to strengthen their middle order batting line-up with a good and lethal death pace attack. In IPL2020, Kings were struggling in the middle order batting and in the death overs of bowling. Only they could happy with the likes of openers and the young spinners and Shami. They have lot of holes in their boat and they have to fill up them with ease. Ness Wadia was also much disappointed with the performance of global level star players like Sheldon Cottrell and Glenn Maxwell.

“It is a new captain, a new team with lot of fresh faces, sometimes it clicks and sometimes it doesn’t. The auction is coming up soon and we would be looking to plug the gaps in the middle order and our bowling. The international players did not perform to the expected level,” Wadia stated as quoted by News 18.

On the discussion towards the change of captain-coach format, Ness Wadia reckons that there management have complete clarification of three year plan over this duo and definitely try to come back stronger in next season. He also appreciated their skipper KL Rahul for being the epitome backbone for Kings XI Punjab throughout the season.

“We have a charted a three year strategy with Anil. We revamped this season and finished sixth and lost (the play-off spot) only by one game. KL has been with us for three years and there was a reason why we went after him so aggressively. He has proved us right. It is tough for the top order when your middle order is not performing,” said by Ness Wadia.

Gayle has suggested playing every next game: Ness Wadia

Wadia has said that despite of having good likes of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran and seamer Shami, team still need core in the batting line-up.

“The good thing is that we have an established core now (Rahul, Pooran, Gayle and Shami) and we need to plug the gaps which are quite apparent (middle-order and death bowling). KXIP’s record of making too many changes in captaincy and coaching is something which we want to correct,” said by Ness Wadia.

“Rahul captained exceedingly well and gained in confidence with each game. We are lucky to have him. Shami has been brilliant too and has adjusted brilliantly to the T20 format. Pooran and the young Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh too performed well,” Ness Wadia said.

“The Team management did what it thought was best for the team. It is important to back experienced players and Gayle has demonstrated that he should play every game next season,” said by Ness Wadia.

In the previous season KXIP had players like Sam Curran, Varun Chakravarthy and T Natarajan and in this year’s season these players had played well to their respected teams. Speaking on this Ness said “Imagine if we had those players like, Sam Curran (CSK) also but again it is all in hindsight”.
