Pat Cummins, the most expensive players from this year’s IPL auction, has decided to not take part in the later half of the ongoing BBL (Big Bash League). He is planning to take a break after the three match ODI series against India in January.
Pat Cummins, world’s number-1 test bowler was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction 2020 for a record breaking sum of INR 15.5 Cr. In the process he also become the most expensive foreign by of the tournament ever.
Cummins represents Sydney Thunders in the BBL. But after a hectic 2019 he has decided to give himself a well-earned break.
Sydney Thunder’s coach Shane Bond also respected the paceman’s decision and said that they know how busy he had been in this year and they understand very well that he needs a break.
Thunder coach Shane Bond, who was also a fast bowler, quoted, “We’re hoping he comes in and buys us pizza,” “I will definitely be inviting him in (to the change–rooms) for a few games – it’s his shout.” “He’s a great man, he is great around our team. He was great for us (in previous seasons) and we respected the fact that he needs a break.”
“We just said if he wanted to come back he was always welcome here. Cummins has bowled more overs in international cricket than any other bowler this year staying fit during back-to-back World Cup and Ashes campaigns.”
“The good thing about a reward like that for Patty, he has worked really hard to get himself fit and playing in all three forms,” Shane bond said in his talk.
David Warner, Cummins team-mate was also full of praise for the fast bowler for his decision and said, “Credit to him – now it’s about going out there and we all have to perform.”
