Indian Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin joins Nottinghamshire for the second half of the county season. Ashwin becomes 2nd player after Ajinkya Rahane to play the county cricket. Ajinkya Rahne is playing for Hampshire in the County and scored a century on his county debut. Ravichandran Ashwin joins Nottinghamshire Ashwin will replace Australian player James Pattinson in the 2nd half of the county season. Ashwin may play six games for the Nottinghamshire in this season of County.
Ravichandran Ashwin said
“I’m really looking forward to joining up with Nottinghamshire, to playing cricket at an iconic venue like Trent Bridge and hopefully contributing to some County Championship victories. I enjoyed my previous stint in England with Worcestershire. It’s a good, competitive standard of cricket over there and I can’t wait to get started.”
Nottinghamshire director of cricket, Mick Newell said, “We knew what we wanted to sign and that was a world-class bowler. Whether that was a fast or a slow bowler, we were prepared to look at all options.”
“As it happens, we’ve signed a very good spinner, a very experienced spinner and one we hope can contribute with the bat as well. We’ve seen world-class slow bowlers have a huge match-winning effect in county cricket over many years. Ravi certainly has that potential – and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming him to the squad and letting him loose on our opposition.”
Ravichandran Ashwin joins Nottinghamshire is going to play in the county cricket second time. The first time he played for Worcestershire in 2017 county season. He took 20 wickets in four matches at an average of 29.15 and also made 214 runs with an average of 42.80.
R Ashwin led the Kings XI Punjab team in IPL 2018 and 2019. He could not qualify KXIP for the playoffs of IPL both times. Maybe Ashwin will lead the KXIP in the next season of IPL.
