Winnipeg Hawks beat Toronto Nationals in the Eliminator match and reached in the Qualifier 2 to where they will face Brampton Wolves. The match was High Scoring. Toronto Nationals was batted first and set the target of 239 runs for the Winnipeg Hawks with the Help of Heinrich Klaasen brilliant century. Winnipeg Hawks won the match by two runs due to DLS method. When the rain came, the match Hawks was two-plus runs regarding DLS par run.
During the Winnipeg Hawks Batting, their Captain Rayad Emrit was batting, and Kieron Pollard was bowling. Kieron Pollard was bowled a bouncer that can give umpire wide. But Pollard again bowled a bounce but this time umpire didn’t give the second bouncer, and Rayad Emrit loses his coolness and starts to argue with the umpire. During this, Kieron pollard took a bunter and put umpire’s hat on Rayad Emrit head.
JP Duminy was awarded player of the match award for his brilliant inning. After that Duminy said, “Was probably one of my better ones (knocks) in T20 cricket. Communication was important with respect to targeting the bowlers, and when the spinners came on, I knew, I need to capitalize. I need to free my arms against the off-spinner, and that’s something I worked on in the last few years. That (Klaasen’s knock) was remarkable, and that was one the best I have seen Heinrich play in any form of cricket, and I am pretty sure he will be back in the South African side very soon. Bit of an anticlimax in the end, but a win is a win.”
After winning the match Winnipeg Hawks captain, Rayad Emrit said,
“Nothing is personal (about the disappointment regarding umpiring decisions). A lovely game of T20 cricket and that’s what it is all about. It was getting dark, and we were a little behind, and we had to go for our shots. We needed to be 197 at the end of that (17th) over, and that’s when we pushed it. We didn’t play our best game, and we still have another chance, and hopefully, we will do well on Saturday.”
