Ricky Ponting has come up with the three names when enquired about the best fielders of his generation. Former Australia skipper, who was one of the greatest fielders of the game during his generation, named Andrew Symonds, AB de Villiers and Jonty Rhodes as the best three in the fielding department.
There is no doubt Jonty Rhodes was the best of the lot. The flying machinefrom South Africa affected as many as 68 run-outs in his international career.Ponting also went with one more South African AB de Villiers, well, the Super man is one of the fittest players this game has blessed with. AB played for almost 10 years without missing a single match with injury. Andrew Symonds was another gem of the fielding. The Australian was one of the formidable Australian team members that ruled the cricket more than a decade.
Surprisingly Ricky Ponting did not pick any Indian in that list because during his playing days also Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh were one of the sharpest fielders in the ring. Pointing, who himself affected as many as 80 run-outs (most by anyone) during his career, was having a questions round session on his twitter account when a fan came up with the question.
Ponting now has taken the role of head coach of Delhi Capitals in the IPL. Since his captaincy days, he is well known for grooming young talents. And as Delhi Capitals has plethora of youngsters in their ranks and they have chosen an aggressive and most successful limited overs captain as their head coach rightly.
Ricky Ponting was also vocal about Pant’s indifferent form and KL Rahul’s rise as Wicket Keeper batsman and hoped that the youngster will make a stunning comeback Sonner or later.
Ponting tweeted, “@RishabhPant17 is a young man with a huge amount of talent. I’m looking forward to working with him again during the IPL and I’m sure he’ll be back in the Indian team sooner rather than late
