India and Australia are preparing hard for the 3 match ODI series as both the teams trained in different ways. While India had optional practice sessions leading up to the series. Australian bowlers practiced with wet balls in order to train themselves to bowl in dewy conditions at Wankhede.
In a recent talk with media, Australian pace bowler Kane Richardson also talked about the dew and how they are preparing for the same. Kane Richardson said, “Andrew McDonald camped out here last night to try and see what time the dew came in. Who knows, everyone is guessing. I think everyone is prepared. We’re going to train today with some wet balls so we can practice that. We’ll just wait and see on game day. It’s nothing new, we have dew back home as well“ on Sunday (January 12).
The pacer also talked about his team’s series win over India in the short format last year. However, the bowler was quick to call themselves underdogs, “I think the home team is always favourite. I think on the back of last year, I think Finchy (Aaron Finch) has said no team has ever won here back to back. It’s going to be so hard,” Richardson said.
“India in India is always the biggest challenge and after what happened last year they will be ready for it. Confidence is up but the home team is always favourite. We are the underdogs,” he added.
Australia will be high on confidence after the successful summer at home. Marnus Labuschagne, who was the star of their summer, can be handed ODI debut in the first match of the series. After the first ODI, sboth the teams will travel to Rajkot for the second ODI that is scheduled on January 17. The third and the final ODI will be played in Bengaluru on January 19.
