MI played their last match against KXIP. Not only MI lost the match but it was also fined in this match. What happened was KXIP won the toss and invited MI for batting. MI scored 176 runs in 20 overs with loss of 7 wickets. The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock played an outstanding innings. They made of partnership of 51 runs before Rohit Sharma got out on 32 runs. Rohit Sharma scored 321 run in just 18 balls with help of 5 fours.
Quinton de Kock scored 60 runs in 39 balls which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. In the end Hardik Pandya played a good inning as a finisher. He scored 31 runs in just 19 balls which helped his team to set a target of 177 runs for KXIP.
KXIP successfully chased the target by losing only 2 wickets. The opening pair of KL Rahul and Chris gayle played outstanding innings. They added 53 runs before Chris Gayle got out after playing an attacking inning of 40 runs in just 24 balls. He hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in his attacking inning. KL Rahul remained not out and led his team in successfully chasing the target of 177 runs. He scored 71 runs in 52 balls which included 6 fours and one six. He was helped by Mayank Agarwal who smashed 43 runs in just 21 balls by hitting 2 sixes and 4 fours. The main factor for MI loss was their lose bowling. Not only they bowled bad bowling but they also bowled very slowly.
Why Rohit Sharma pay fine?
Hence their captain Rohit Sharma was fined of Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate. IPL issued a media statement saying that “Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 match against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on 30th March 2019. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Sharma was fined Rs 12 lakh.”
