As India is going battle with the best side that is the Australian Team. This is going to be an epic clash as both the sides are up to their best. Both the teams has match winning players and it is going to be a tough and competitive series. Fans are enthusiastic over this series as this is the comeback series of Indian Cricket Team after a huge gap. India have many options for the Test opening as they have specialist openers like Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal.
Former Indian Cricketer Legend Sachin Tendulkar admits that Mayank can be the one opener for the test series against Australia. In 2018 December India was in the tour of Australian series where Mayank had debuted for the Indian team. Since that day he has been terrific in performing in red ball cricket. His average is of amazing 57.29 with close towards 1000 run mark and perforated with three centuries in his name.
The other opener with Mayank Agarwal could be Rohit Sharma suggested by Sachin Tendulkar. It is also known with the fact that Rohit wouldn’t be available for the first two test series due to the hamstring injury so he might be available from the third test while for the first two test series, it may be KL Rahul or Prithvi Shaw will open with Mayank Agarwal.
“Mayank, I know is a confirmed started because he has scored big runs and if Rohit is fit and available, then he should be there. Between other guys (KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw), that will be the management’s decision as they would be knowing who’s the form man,” Stated by Sachin Tendulkar which is said by Hindustan Times.
India has also many options for the opening slot like Shubman Gill, he can be good opening option but as he isn’t so experienced to defend the mighty Australian so chances are less. He has debuted for India in 2019 against New Zealand for the ODIs series.
Last time when India won the series against Australia on their soil itself, they led the series with 2-1 whereas at that time Steven Smith and David Warner weren’t available for the Australian squad due to suspension period. Furthermore Australian had found a star player as Marnus Labuschagne who can be a tough competition for India. Sachin also reveals that this trio can make some troubles for Indian unit.
“Smith, Warner and Marnus Labuschagne will be a factor and I am confident that the Indian team will leave no stone unturned as far as preparations are concerned. These two seniors are back in the team and also with the presence of Labuschagne it makes a much better batting unit. It will be bit more competitive series and I am sure India is ready for it,” Sachin Tendulkar stated.
Sachin also depicted that the absence of Kohli in the last three tests will make Australians a strong impact and will create a void over Indian team.
“Virat not being there without a doubt is a big void but also, on the other hand, the kind of bench strength that we have and the talent that is available, it is a good opportunity for somebody to establish himself,” Sachin Tendulkar said.
The Test series will begin from December 17th at Adelaide, Oval.
