In 2017 women’s world cup Indian Cricket Team reached in finals but lost to England. After that, the fan following of women’s cricket highly increased. So BCCI felt that a women’s IPL tournament should be started. In last year they have organized a one-off match to test that can women’s IPL tournament can be organised.
Now, this year BCCI have gone a step ahead and organized 4 exhibition matches. The no. of participating teams have increased from two of last year to three in this year. Earlier as we reported that BCCI have announced the venue, dates and captains of women’s T20 exhibition matches. Now, BCCI have announced the scheduled of women’s T20 exhibition matches.
First match will be played between supernovas and trailblazers. Second match will be played between Trailblazers and velocity and the third match will be played between supernovas and velocity. The final will be played between top 2 teams.

May 6 : Supernovas vs Trailblazers
May 8 : Trailblazers vs Velocity
May 9 : Supernovas vs Velocity
May 11 : Final.
All matches will be played at Sawai Man Singh stadium, Jaipur. Smriti Mandhana will lead Trailblazers. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead Supernovas. The third team Velocity will be led by Mithali Raj. Squads of the teams have not been announced yet but will be announced soon. The first match on May 6 will be clashing with the Lok Sabha elections but the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has got the required permissions from the authorities.
This time players from 6 countries will participate in these exhibition matches. It is a increase from previous year. Previous year only Australia, England and New Zealand, apart from India participated. This shows that BCCI wants to increase the popularity of women’s cricket and is going ahead in organising a women’s IPL tournament in India.
