Shikhar Dhawan gives an update on Shreyas Iyer’s injury

Delhi Capitals have won their sixth match in the Indian Premier League 2020, out of eighth matches they have played. They are standing at top of he points table with 12 points.

Delhi Capitals are struggling from injury. Their two star players, Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma have already ruled out from the rest of the tournament while Rishabh Pant is going under the injury blow. Now their Captain Shreyas Iyer has also injured during the match Against Rajasthan Royals, yesterday.

Shreyas Iyer injured his shoulder while fielding. The incident took place in the fifth over of Royals’ innings when Anrich Nortje was bowling to Ben Stokes. The Royals opener punched one down the ground and Shreyas Iyer, who was standing at mid-off, dived over the ball to stop it but landed awkwardly on it. Shreyas Iyer saved the boundary for his team but he left the field due to shoulder injury.

After Shreyas Iyer left the field, Shikhar Dhawan was the standing captain for Delhi. After the match Dhawan has given an update on Shreyas Iyer’s injury.

“He’s (Iyer) in pain but his shoulder is moving. We’ll get proper report tomorrow,” said standing captain Shikhar Dhawan.

“One moment it was quite even and to pick it back from there was a team effort. Was important we stayed positive as a team. Knew their batting isn’t deep. Knew if we got their top-order we can get them. Everytime we want them to deliver they’re delivering. Courage he showed, line and length he bowled was amazing (Deshpande). Have to keep the momentum. Long tournament. Will keep the process going,” Shikhar Dhawan added.

Delhi capitals will play their next match against Chennai Super Kings on September 17 in Sharjah.
