Disappointing news for Shreyas Iyer, might be in Injury concern ahead of domestic tournament

With the commencement of domestic tournaments in the upcoming year, players will more be in concern on their fitness as they have to gain the better health conditions for the tournament. In reference to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Mumbai will be much concerned as their star player might be unlikely to play the tournament. He is Shreyas Iyer. With his injury concerns chance of presence in the tournament is in bit of confusion.

He was also in the squad of Australian series of ODIs and T20Is but couldn’t do worth remembering as he only managed to score 38 and 19 respectively in the ODIs format.

Shreyas Iyer will be a crucial player for the domestic tournament for Mumbai as he has outshone his performance in the IPL from last 2 years by leading Delhi Capitals into new venture. With his captaincy, Delhi franchises have been tremendous in the last two years. In 2019, they entered in the playoffs after a long gap while in the recent concluded edition, Delhi appeared in the finals for the first time in the history of IPL. But now while playing for the national side against Australia in the T20Is, he has injured himself on the shoulder.

Iyer has now appointed as the skipper of Mumbai team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which was announced by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Friday, 18th December 2020.

According to the sources and reports it is said right now Iyer is at Dubai after the match against Australia and will soon travel to Bangalore for undergoing rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA). The kind of performance he has given in the past times, has also made him a top contender for India’s number 4 position slot.

It is said that four teams will start ahead practice sessions at Wankhede Stadium and BKC Ground from 21st to 25th December. Mumbai Association has appointed Amit Pagnis as their coach for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The committee has also appointed new selection panel which will lead by Salil Ankola, former Indian cricketer. Right now according to the schedule, Mumbai is in the Elite group E and might play opening match of there against Delhi on Monday that is 11th January 2021.
