It all started with a tweet from Royal Challenger Bangalore on this Friday praising a shot from Virat Kohli against Bangladesh here in 2nd Test match at Kolkata, in response to this tweet RPS’s official twitter handle also shows there support for Kohli. This reply from Rising Pune Supergiants was enough to catch the attention of IPL fans all over India, they were surprised to see unexpected response as the last tweet came from RPS was in October 2017 and also during this time when auction of release player for “IPL 2020” is going to be held at Kolkata on 19th December.

The Rising Pune Supergiants played in Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2016 and 2017; it was the second team representing Pune after “Pune Warriors India”,

MS Dhoni was captain of the team during 2016 season, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni Rising Pune Supergiants won only 5 games out of 14. Steve Smith was the captain of this team during 2017, in which they won 10 games out of 16 they played and this was the season that brought lot of success for RPS as they reached final and faced Mumbai Indians, although Mumbai Indians won that match by 1 run to get there 3rd IPL title, but the quality performance shown by RPS in that season is still being remembered.

Possible resurrected of Rising Pune Supergiants also brought a lot of debate among IPL fans like, what would be the possible playing 11? Who is going to lead the team?

The RPS played in the IPL two years because of the ban served by Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
