Yesterday, India lost their first match of world cup 2019. Team India will face Bangladesh in their next world cup 2019 game. But before this match, Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar ruled out of world cup 2019 due to a toe injury. He played at number 4 for India. He could not play the last game due to injury.
Mayank Agarwal will join the team as the Replacement of Vijay Shankar. Mayank Agarwal could not play in the ODI for India. But, recently he got a chance to make his test debut and played well.
“Vijay got hit on the toe by a Jasprit Bumrah delivery once again. His situation is not great and he won’t be able to take part in the tournament. He is going back home,” a senior BCCI official told PTI.
“The Indian team management is likely to ask for Mayank Agarwal as a replacement since he is an opener and also it might give KL Rahul a chance to get back to the No.4 position in case Rishabh Pant fails in the next two games,” the source added.
Rishabh pant continues at number 4 for India said India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar. Bangar said,
“He had decent innings; he got a couple of good shots in his 32, and got a partnership going, so we are going to persist with Rishabh. The team management has been feeling the absence of a left-hander since Shikhar Dhawan’s injury.
“There as a ploy to use the right-left combination in the middle overs, where you would probably upset the bowling plans a bit. That’s also why Adil Rashid couldn’t bowl the number of overs he would have usually bowled,” Bangar Added.
Team India has played seven matches so far in the ICC cricket world cup 2019 and won 5 games out of them. They are standing at 2nd position in the points table.
