A T10 League can be conducted by Sri Lanka in February 2021

As cricket is always in that stage where new processes and innovations are at the peak, each game produces some new kind of development Test to ODI, ODI to T20 and now T20 to T10, its always on the card of processes. As T10 leagues were first brought by United Arab Emirates in 2017. That was the inaugural season for the tournament. Now with their initiatives many more countries are also aiming to apply the same approach. The same is going to be done by Sri Lanka. Right now, Lanka is focusing on their inaugural success season of Lanka Premier League. The game is going well with global T20 players while with the ongoing success tey are now focusing to bring T10 League to the Sri Lankan stage.

Sri Lanka is likely to bring T10 Leagues in February. They are even had the event rights booked for 1st to 12th of February and in the process for calling of the tenders. As the inaugural season of Abu Dhabi T10 League in 2019 consists of four major teams which are Maratha Arabians, Bangla Tigers, Deccan Gladiators and Team Abu Dhabi. Later on Emirates Cricket Board had given proposals approved with tournament having ten teams which will play tournament for duration of 90 minutes. Same as that of Srilankan Board is also focusing. The information regarding the formats is still to be finalised, but the confirmation has been judged by Sri Lankan Board to conduct a T10 league in February.

The allotted venues for the league is likely to be R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Dambulla and Pallekele stadiums. The expected genre can be with round robin format consisting of 29 games on the board played in the league stages and then the semi finals and finals. Total team in the tournament could be five or six whereas each side are allotted with 16 players with six overseas players in per team.

Raveen Wickremaratne, The Sri Lanka Cricket Vice President has ensured that they are on a focus to conduct a stage for T10 Leagues after the England Test series, as in the coming year England will tour Lanka for Two test matches which will be held at Galle International Stadium.

“Yes, the T10 tournament is on the cards. It’s a new concept and we have found a window in February soon after the England series to play it,” stated by Raveen Wickremaratne as said by Sunday Times.1k.
