RR played their last match against CSK. Not only RR lost the match but they were also fined in this match. RR won the toss and invited CSK for batting. CSK skipper MSD scored the highest run for CSK. He scored 75 runs in 46 balls which included 4 boundaries and 4 sixes. Dhoni remained not out and set a target of 176 runs for RR.
For RR the best bowling figure came from Jofra Archer who took 2 wickets at economy of 4.2 per over. Dhavan Kulkarni, Ben stokes and Jaydev Undakat each took one wicket.
Coming to batting, RR performed poorly. They lost their early 3 wickets at the score of 14 only. After that Rahul Tripathi, Stevn Smith, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer played some good knocks but could not convert it into big innings. Not a single player of RR was able to hit a half century. RR could not achieve the target in full 20 overs. Credit goes to CSK bowlers who performed fabulously well. Deepak Chahar, Shradul Thakur, Imran Tahir and DJ Bravo all took 2 wickets each.
CSK won the match by 8 runs. MSD was announced player of the match. Not only did RR lose the match but they were also fined for slow over rate. Yesterday match went long as more than 4 hours due to RR slow over rate. Ajinkya Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh because his team maintained slow over rate. Earlier, Rohit Sharma was also fined of the same amount because of the same reason.
IPL issued a statement saying that “Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 match against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on 31st March 2019.As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh.”
