As everyone know the way, IPL has gained popularity in these 14 years, no other global leagues has even touched the feet and that may be the reason every league’s are marching to compete his epic stage.
Just like other tournaments, now United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced to set a start over their own franchise league. It has officially announced by them on Tuesday that they are going to conduct franchise league of the shortest format.
In the announcement they has also mentioned that the tournament will be conducted in between December 2021 and January 2022. The mandatory announcement of the league has been officially stated by Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, a powerful minister if UAE Government and the Chairman of Emirates Cricket Board.
Although UAE has also initiated many franchise league. In 2014, half of the IPL season was held at UAE whereas the recently concluded edition of IPL was also held at UAE due to pandemic situation.
UAE has also conducted two season of Pakistan Super League (PSL). With having a back up side of franchise league, now the country is set to release their own franchise league.
“The ECB is pleased to announce that UAE’s own exclusive T20 league has been sanctioned by ECB Chairman High Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan to the Dubai sports city and will soon be held in the UAE. The dates being considered are December 2021 and January 2022” as said by Gulf News.
“Like all other successful leagues across the globe league models, the T20 league in the UAE will he franchise based which will attract major international cricketers. Modalities of the league are being finalised” added in the statement.
“We are delighted with the launch of our own T20 League, one we believe will enhance the growth and Popularity of cricket being played in the UAE. We also envisages that UAE based players will continue to flourish through such opportunities as they continue to make their mark on the international stage” quoted by ECB board member and selection committee chairman of ECB, Dr.Tayeb Kamali.
A total of six franchises will take place in the inaugural season of UAE based tournament.
