Ever since MS Dhoni has retired from the international cricket, everyone was backing Rishabh Pant as the perfect replacement but due to his inconsistency he was dropped from the national side and been appeared as a back-up player. Even his disappointing season of IPL-2020, eventually made him to being sabotaged from the ODI and T20I squad members and was only selected in the red ball series against Australia.

But his phenomenal knock in the Sydney Test and Gabba Test made him again in the limelight. His knock of 97 runs which stabilised to build innings for Strong draw in 3rd Test followed by unbeaten 89 in the decider match that is Gabba Test led Indian team to win Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

With his phenomenal performance, Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg reckons that Rishabh Pant should be included in the ODI and T20I squad in place of Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer.

“I would be putting him there right now because he has got confidence and belief. He has proven himself with two match-winning knocks in this Test series. You can’t get better than that playing for India on Australian soil. I would put him in place of Iyer. Keep your all-round options there for batting and bowling depth. He will be there for either Samson or Iyer” quoted by Brad Hogg on You tube channel.

With Rahane’s success in the red ball format ahead of Virat Kohli, many analysts had commented to make Rahane all time captain of Indian Test Team. Even Brad Hogg keeps Rahane ahead of Virat Kohli in captaincy after historic win against Australia.

“He (Virat Kohli) bats better when he is the captain. I think if you change it, it would destroy the culture of the Indian cricket team. It might affect Kohli’s batting. He wouldn’t want it to happen, but it will happen”, added by Brad Hogg.
